Mother Nature

In a matter of 4 days we went from THIS:

To THIS:

Why can't mother nature make up her mind?!?! Lily decided that she liked the nice weather sooooo much that now she spends her days standing by the door SCREAMING to go out. All day long. Every day. Even when there is snow. Thanks mother nature, we really appreciate it.

Random

I never got around to finishing my posts last week, so here are just a few more pictures from the few warm days that we had. It has been such random weather here, 60 degrees one day then snowing, icing and single digits the next. We sure are glad that we are in a warmer house this year!! Also Lily has learned how to pray... well in her own way! As soon as we sit down to eat, even if it is just a snack, she folds her arms and starts to mumble her own prayer. Then she smiles and waits for us all to join her! It is so cute that I had to capture it on camera!!
On Valentine's Day it was so warm out that we all went outside to play baseball in our back yard. Then Lily and Luke jumped on the trampoline for a little bit while Gabby took a mandatory "rest" inside until she chilled out!! It was so much fun and the kids LOVED getting to play with dad even for just a little while. That night the kids went to our friends house (we switched nights of babysitting) while we came home to a meal ALL prepared by Nate!! Wow is all I can say!! (And for all of those who sampled the "toxic" brownies he made before, he got tips before this meal so as to not make the same mistakes again!!!) He was so proud of himself that he is still telling people how awesome of a meal it was!!
I have a quick story to tell about Luke, I DID title this Random so you can't complain!! On Friday Luke went home from school with a friend who I am not all that familiar with. Normally I wouldn't do this, but I was really sick again and Nate was taking me into the Dr again and so one less kid is really a help. I have talked to the mom a lot so I felt ok with it, just not as good as I would have liked. Anyways when we finally got home and called to have Luke brought home it was bedtime so they had fed him already. When the mom dropped him off she said she had a story to tell us. Apparently she had made dinner for the boys and set it at the table for them and was going to just leave them there while she and he husband went in the other room to eat. He stopped her and asked if they were going to say a blessing on the food first. She, not being a really religious person, was a little taken back. She said her husband was trying hard to keep from laughing because that was just not something she EVER did. She thought a minute and asked Luke if he would go ahead and do it. He looks her in the eye and says, " No that's ok, you can do it." She said there was just no getting around this boy so she had to say a prayer for the food. She thanked us for doing such a good job raising this little boy! I just thought that was such a wonderful way to show that even simple things can have an impacted on someones life. Who knows how that will affect her in the future, but it made an impression for at least that moment. I love you Luke!!

I was afraid of this!!!!

For every mother there are things that she would rather not ever have happen in her happy little family. One such thing for me would be to have my beautiful daughter, who has very thin hair, take scissors to her own hair. Well, last night we had some friends over for family night and while we parents were enjoying each others company, my daughter thought it would be great to have her little friend help her do this to herself!!!!

I walked in the room to throw something in the trash and found this pile of once beautiful long golden trusses. I ran to Gabby to see where it had all come from. Luckily she decided she was more of a cosmetologist then I thought and she inflicted most of the damage at random intervals throughout her hair so as to just look like layers. But a large portion of the damage was done just under her right ear. Fortunately she had her hair half up so it is under a thin, and I do mean THIN, layer of hair so it is somewhat unnoticeable. I think I will never know what possessed her to do this to herself, but at least it isn't as bad as it could have been.

You see, now she has a pretty bad mullet!!! At least I do have that layer I can leave down until it grows out so people won't really notice it!!

Spring Fever

A few weeks ago on Sunday it was in the low 60's!! The kids have had cabin fever so much lately, we decided it would be ok to go outside for a while!! At first I didn't want Lily to go out, but she sat by the door longingly watching her siblings and I gave in.
She was sooooo happy that I let her out of the house. Our porch is open on one end and of course she kept trying to jump off of it, which is why I was hesitant in the first place! But I can't argue with how happy it made her, only now that it is snowing again I have a monster on my hands!!
The kids had so much fun running and just soaking up the fresh, non bone-chilling, air. Spring, come quick!!!

Relatives??What do you think...

Seriously do you see it?! Nate seems to think Lily is a "spitting image" of our dear friend the Joker. What do you think??

While the cats away...

As I mentioned in a recent post, I have been somewhat sick for the last week or so. As a result of this I have not been the best mother. I lay on the couch or in bed and ask Luke to keep on eye on his sisters. I try my best to still be a good mom and keep track of them, but lets face it how good of a job can I really do if I am asleep?! Anyways while I was laying on the couch, actually awake but talking to my mother in law, Gabby got into some purple chap stick. Now when I say "got into", what I really mean is she painted her whole face in it!!! These pictures really don't do it justice, but you get the idea. See Gayle, I wasn't lying when I said she was a little purple monster!! I LOVE her face in the first one, it is the "oh nuts mom caught me and isn't impressed" look. But after I explained that I wasn't really mad, I just didn't want her to do it again she thought the whole things was pretty funny! Oh Gabby girl you are the best!!
P.S. For all of those who are so kind as to take an interest in my health, thank you and it's really not that big of a deal. I have a test this week at the hospital to see if it is my gallbladder. If it is they will take it out, but I hear it is no big deal. I had to stay in the hospital a few days earlier because I got so dehydrated and then my magnesium and potassium levels were apparently critically low.

Kids day in

A few weeks ago school was cancelled for the kids so we had to think of something fun to do to entertain each other. Luke decided that we needed to take picture sitting in Lily's FAVORITE spot in the whole house... the little wooden rocking chair that our awesome landlady gave us! They were so cute, taking turns sitting in it and posing. Lily was of course not so thrilled about having to share her coveted toy, but she did pretty good all things considered!!
I love Lily's cheesy grin, she is just so darn cute!
Gabby NEVER likes to look at the camera and has been going through this "I like my hair down" phase. I have to say that I still think she is super cute though!
Luke refuses to take a normal picture unless I absolutely insist on it, and that usually involves a bribe of some sort!!;)
